What you need with it

AC100 base powder only. Mix it with AC100 liquid at 1 : 2,5 (liquid : base, by weight). Buying a set gives you both, pre-measured.

Not included: silicone mould, digital scale, mixing cup and stick, pigments, sealer.

How to use AC100

Five steps from bag to finished cast.

  1. Weigh 1 part liquid to 2,5 parts base on a digital scale. Not sure how much? Weigh the water your mould holds and use the calculator.
  2. Mix for 2 to 3 minutes until smooth, keeping the stick under the surface to avoid air.
  3. Colour (optional) with up to 2% water-based pigment, or fold in terrazzo chips.
  4. Pour slowly and tap the mould so air bubbles rise. Working time is short, so prepare everything before you mix.
  5. Demould and cure after 30 to 40 minutes, sand while the cast is still soft, let it cure for 24 hours, then seal.

Questions & answers

How much Jesmonite® do I need for my mould?
Fill your empty mould with water, pour it onto kitchen scales and weigh it in grams (1 ml of water is 1 g). Add about 10% for spare. For AC100, divide that figure by 2 for the liquid and multiply the liquid by 2.5 for the base. In a hurry? Use our free Jesmonite® calculator.
Why did my cast come out chalky or soft?
This is nearly always a mixing problem, not the material. Too much liquid makes a soft, chalky cast, while too little makes it thick and fast-setting. Use accurate digital scales and stick closely to the correct ratio for a hard, clean result.
Can AC100 be used outdoors?
No. AC100 is intended for indoor decorative pieces. If your project needs to live outside, choose AC730 or AC84, which are both weather-resistant and suitable indoors and outdoors, and seal the finished piece appropriately.
Is Jesmonite® waterproof?
Not on its own. Jesmonite® is porous and will absorb water, so seal it before it comes into regular contact with water. An acrylic sealer (satin or gloss) suits AC100; a penetrating or Flexiguard sealer is made for the cement-based AC730 and AC84.
Is Jesmonite® food safe?
Jesmonite® is not certified food-safe. It is a decorative casting material, and the sealers used on it are not food-safe either. Use trays, bowls and dishes for dry, decorative use rather than serving food directly on the surface.
