About this product

The pigments in the Jesmonite range are liquid colorants specially designed to be mixed with acrylic resins, aqua resins and synthetic plasters.

Their high concentration produces vivid, intense colours, much stronger than with other colorant systems.

How to use these pigments

Mix the Jesmonite first, then colour it.

  1. Mix base and liquid at the correct ratio until smooth.
  2. Colour stir in up to 2% of the total mix weight; start small and build up.
  3. Repeat weigh the pigment and note the amount so you can match the shade next time.

Questions & answers

Can I use pigments that are not made for Jesmonite®?
Yes, as long as they are water-based. Avoid oil-based colours, solvent dyes or food colouring, which can bleed, fade or stop the cast curing properly.
Can you get a neon or metallic finish?
Yes. Neon pigments (powder) give bright, high-impact colour that works perfectly with AC100 and can also be used with AC84, especially over a white base. For a metallic or pearlescent look, use mica-style metallic powders mixed through the cast, or rub a wax paste onto the dry piece.
How do you make a terrazzo effect?
Spread a thin layer of coloured Jesmonite® on a silicone mat, let it dry for 20 to 30 minutes, break it into chips and fold them into a fresh mix. Sand the demoulded piece while it is still soft, then seal it once cured to bring the colours out. StoneRoxx and GlassRoxx are ready-made alternatives.
